I firmly believe that #Windows #users who only #browse the #web, watch #movies, use #word processing and #email, and do some basic #photo #editing are much better off with #Linux than with #Windows11. This is likely true for 85% of home Windows users.

You don't even have to make any major adjustments because the software looks almost identical on Windows and Linux:

1) For #browsing use #Firefox (or #LibreWolf).
2) For word processing use #LibreOffice.
3) For emails use #Thunderbird.
4) For movies use #VLC.
5) For photo editing use #Gimp (or #Krita).
6) There are now also better alternatives to many other Windows applications available on Linux...

So please explain to me why #XDA thinks Linux is only for Windows users who just surf the web? source: xda-developers.com/linux-becom…

Recently I encountered this unusual page display when attempting to visit a website. The phrase, “Please switch to #normal #browsing”, is telling.

I always understood the #internet to be a global #network of interconnected #electronic devices that serves as a utilitarian information resource for #humanity, not intended to function as a means of personal data collection. A new #Alexandria if you will.

Whence lies the point at which such a transition was accomplished? A slow slide, surely.

The Register: ChatGPT blindly trusts browser content, turning the page into a payload. “ChatGPT can’t tell its own generated content from attacker-controlled Markdown pulled from external sources, according to a researcher who found the prompt injection technique and reported it to OpenAI. This means that if a user asks the chatbot to summarize a web page that contains hidden instructions, […]

Thank #AI for fucking the hell out of #browsing.

The ultimate enshittification.

Google va tuer le web tel que nous le connaissons. A coup d'enshitification ia.

TL;DR : Ça va être moche. Les utilisateurs ne viendront plus sur votre site web, Google leur servira un vomi prédigéré par leur ia, cliquer sur des liens deviendra anecdotique.

Browsing an unknown site without using an AdBlocker

is like having sex with a total stranger without using a condom.

You are talking about free press, but how can we read the free press when it's blocked by cookie popups?

I think EU and its bureaucracy GDPR is to blame!

They might be legally required, but they're also blocking everything you want to read.
