I just published a short post on The Vending Company’s 2025 snacks and drinks survey focusing on my surprise that Pepsi took the first place ranking over Coca Cola (see survey). I focused on the top two in that post, butt I found another point which surprised me. Diet Coke came in 4th place on the soda ranking, ahead of Coke Zero in 7th (110 first-place votes to 82). Had someone asked me going in, I would have assumed that Coke Zero is more popular these days (note this is a very small survey so my hunch may well be over the target). It is usually featured more prominently on store shelves and it certainly tastes more like non-diet Coke than Diet Coke. With that being said, I like both Diet Coke and Coke Zero. I have had some very good fountain Diet Cokes before (the Brooklyn Botanic Garden used to have excellent fountain Diet Coke). I sometimes reach for Diet Coke on the rare occasion I buy a soda while out.
