One of the cool things about long-distance, ground-based travel with the #foldingbike is that you can get up to some quite random excursions when you have some time to kill.
I am on my way back from #ecprgc25 in Greece and after arriving in Ancona, Italy by ferry, I had about four hours to kill.
On the map I saw a "Garibaldi Fortress" on a hill overlooking Ancona, which sounded pretty cool. So I went for a little ride. The fortress was definitely not in a state Garibaldi would have approved of 😅, but the cool thing was that I found an enjoyable bit of gravel to explore around Ancona in the process. I really like to explore these spaces just beyond the city, they are often very interesting assemblages of beautiful and mundane, lively and strange places.

Hab's heute dann doch noch #rausgeschafft. Bin mit dem 16" #Brompton H6RD und dem #CroozerCargo zum #Velofix geradelt, um das #BromptonGLine von der Reparatur (neue Bremsbeläge, neue Gepäckträgerrolle, Bremsscheibe vorne stärker anziehen, Umbau auf #ClikValve Ventile) abzuholen. Auf der Rückfahrt mit dem #ElectricGLine vorm #Lastenanhänger noch bei Bebo's 'n Burger und bei der #GelateriaDiBerna 'n Glacé 🍦 gefuttert. Schön war's, obwohl mir das #GLine beim Ankuppeln 2x umfiel.

Sodele, bin grade seit langem mal wieder in #Zürich #Bus gefahren. Beim #BromptonGLine hat sich ein Bremsbelag verklemmt und ist auch komplett runtergebremst. Was davon Ursache und was Wirkung ist, ist unklar. Jedenfalls arg früh dafür, dass ich das Rad erst seit März habe. Der Mech meinte, ich sei erst der 2. mit abgefahrenen Bremsbelägen am #GLine. Und der andere führe andauernd den #Uetliberg hoch & runter. Gut, ich dafür mindestens 6x die Woche über den Sattel #Bucheggplatz rüber.

Nach 170km bekam das Brompton G-Line heute seine erste Wäsche.

Da ich das Gefühl hatte, dass die Kette zu quietschen begann, habe ich auch das erste Mal Flüssigwachs aufgetragen.

Morgen sehe ich, ob das Quietschen weg ist.

Auf meinem Rückweg von der #WHY2025, habe ich gestern Abend noch südlich von #Aachen gehalten und bin mit dem #BromptonElectricGLine den #Vennbahnradweg von km 33 bis Aachen #RotheErde und zurück geradelt: bei angenehmen 19℃ von ca. 21:45 bis 2 Uhr wurden's gute 61km und 300 Höhenmeter mit 'nem knappen 18er Schnitt und 3h27h reine Fahrtzeit. 4/5 Punkte Akku beim Start (wegen 15km Bike Angel), 2/5 am Ende.

This was a long time coming after I had so much fun on a borrowed folding bike last year.

I got a Brompton G Line today 🤩!
First impressions are really good. Definitely rides like a proper bike.

Look forward to some enthusiastic multi-modal transport stories over the next couple of months, hopefully including some dirt and trails 😉.

Heute endlich meine Tasche bekommen. Es ist dann noch mehr geworden. habe mir zusätzlich die Erweiterung für den Gepäcksträger geleistet. Damit kann ich zusätzlich meine Ortlieb Tasche transportieren. Was ich vorher nicht wusste, das ist portabel: wenn ich es nicht brauche, kann ich es einfach abnehmen.
Das Brompton G-Line hat damit aber einen deutlich besseren Stand und kippt nicht mehr so leicht um.

Komisch ist nur, dass der Hersteller weniger Beilagscheiben liefert als in der Anleitung eingezeichnet sind. 🤷‍♂️

Die Leute von Brompton Junction Vienna waren wieder sehr hilfreich. Kann ich nur empfehlen.
