It's Christmas eve, which is a bit of a... big day for my family. It's my late Pop's birthday and the anniversary of my Nan's passing.

Nan loved Christmas, and Pop loved birds as well as Carol of the Birds, an Aussie Christmas carol. Brolgas, the birds in this picture, are the first birds the carol mentions, and are known for the indicate dances they do with their mates. Originally, this drawing was going to be more complex with all the birds from the song, but when I realised this picture was scheduled to go up Christmas Eve, having just the two dancing brolgas felt like a more fitting tribute to both Nan and Pop.

Anyway, Merry Christmas to those who celebrate.

I went out in search of the local brolga named Bruce. Luckily enough to find him as soon as I pulled up in my car. The brolga is the offical bird of Queensland.

Good morning happy commuters

A #brolga (member of the #crane bird family), named Bruce, at a train station. Bruce has visited #MoretonBay region for years. Worried locals recently called in #WildlifeRescue because Bruce the Brolga had been lingering in the same spot, but after a quick checkup was released back into the wilds of suburban Moreton Bay with nothing more than an old broken toe.
