IIssigonis Sprcial - 1938.
Started in 1933, this unique racing car was built by Alec Issigonis (of future Mini fame) and his friend George Dowson. With plans sketched on the wall of Issigonis' shed at his house in Kenilworth (England), they built a racing car from Austin Seven parts using only hand tools. Men and their sheds!

Today, we’re continuing the theme of fast station wagons with this heavily modified 2003 MG ZT-T V8, which was claimed at the time to be the fastest estate ever. A So-Cal Speed Shop rebuild featuring a 6.0-litre Roush engine allowed it to reach 226 mph (363 km/h) on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, scene of many previous MG record runs. Those things on the back are parachute packs to slow the car. Pic taken: British Motor Museum, 2024.

After yesterday’s B3 Volkswagen Passat GT G60 synchro Variant, another transverse-engined supercharged four-wheel drive estate car (there aren’t many), in the form of this one-off 2003 Jaguar X-Type development car, snapped at the British Motor Museum at Gaydon last year. The supercharger upgrade to the 3.0-litre V6 never made it onto production cars.
