I first became aware of Brigitte Kowanz's work in Venice Biennale 2017 and was finally reassured that light art can be high art. Phew!

There was a wave of light as material for some years in the Biennale, but that has been low lately. I hope art world proves me wrong next year!

Brigitte Kowanz was big on morse code, and here's one of her visualisations of the morse alphabet in an artwork called Morse Alphabet (1998). Surprisingly... fluffy artwork.

I didn't even know that Brigitte Kowanz did UV pieces!

I do now, thanks to the Light is what we see exhibition in Albertina, Vienna. This piece is called 1 x 8 (1988).

Today I visited a Brigitte Kowanz exhibition called Light is what we see At Albertina, Vienna (https://www.albertina.at/en/exhibitions/brigitte-kowanz/). Highly recommended!

I have a soft spot for corner-themed light art works and this Untitled (there were many of those) caught my heart with its simplicity.

More Kowanz coming up – it was a big exhibition!
