Quote of the day, 4 September: St. Thérèse
My soul is still in the cellar, but it is happy there, yes, happy to have no consolation because I find then that her love is unlike the love of the world’s brides who always look at the hands of their Bridegroom to see if he is bringing them some presents, or at His face to catch a loving smile that delights them…
But the poor little bride of Jesus feels that she loves Jesus for Him alone, and she only wants to look at the face of her Beloved to glimpse the tears that flow from His eyes, which have delighted her with their hidden charms!… She wants to wipe them away, these tears, to make them her finery on her wedding day, a finery that also will be hidden but will be understood by the Beloved.
