This one is particularly shameful to me because my PhD is from Brandeis:

Note the two "credentials" are AI for STEM and prompt engineering.

Nobody has any business calling these things "credentials", or suggesting they are credentials by naming them "microcredentials". You can't go to your boss waving your prompt engineering microcredential and get a raise, or even a microraise for that matter. You can't access more competitive jobs after obtaining one of these microcredentials.

If they were serious about credentialing people, these would definitely not be the first two made available. They couldn't be more transparently venal. This isn't about credentialing, it's an attempt to profit from the AI bubble.

This sort of thing is precisely why I enrolled there in the first place, uncountably many years ago.

Another preprint, this time from #UPenn, looking at
#wholebrain theta synchrony during memory encoding and retrieval in human subjects. Similar to the #Brandeis study, they only found theta synchrony between HPC and mPFC during memory retrieval. Different task, different animal, but it's also good to see some agreement between studies.

Really interesting #neuroscience preprint from researchers at #Brandeis on characterising #neural activity in shared communication #subspaces between the #hippocampus and the #prefrontalcortex. I found it particularly intriguing that theta power appeared to decrease subspace dimensions and increase subspace predictability, while theta #coherence had much less of an effect. https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2024.07.08.601617v1
