Today’s best piece of spam is titled “Do you love Golf, or know someone at Bovril Sign Brixton who does?”

It continues:

“Hi Sam,

"We're passionate about golf.

"So what, you might say.

"We're also passionate about helping businesses grow.

"So... after years of development, we found a way to combine the two.

"It doesn't even matter whether you play golf yourself, or couldn't care less or know someone else at Bovril Sign Brixton who does.

"We've set up a unique business partnership opportunity with Addington Palace Golf Club.

"Specifically aimed at Art Galleries."

Continues etc etc, closing with a request to pay £240/month for year’s partnership.

I’m tempted.

Not.

There are parts of our culture that will never be consumed by the stinking, insatiable maw of generative AI.

As today is the #AutumnEquinox, we'd like to pitch an idea that so far the major coffee retailers (yer Costas, yer Neros, yer Starbuckses) have inexplicably refused to consider... #PumpkinSpicedBovril #Autumn #Bovril #ncafc 🧡🖤
We have just booked a Mediterranean cruise on the #GravyBoat. We get on the vessel in #Fondue in #Switzerland and sail down the #Linguine coast to the ancient port of #Ravioli then around the #Broccoli Islands and finally disembark at #Brussels. In #Brussels we get to look around the #Limburger car factory where they build the world's first car powered by gas produced from #OnionGravy. It was invented by Count Harrington #Bovril who is related to the #Worcestershire #Bovril's the #Sauce of a lot on modern tech. Then we board the #GravyTrain for the trip home.

I just finished the #Leviathan trilogy by #ScottWesterfeld and moments later I see a jar of #Bovril for the first time in my life. What an incredible coincidence.

With #ValentinesDay in all our minds, here's hoping that you and your partner go as well together as #Bovril and Haribo at a football match. 💕 #BovrilAndHaribo #ncafc 🧡🖤

I think maybe I got a touch of the Dawkinses after my success with the BOVOX reaction* and mistakenly decided that my singular genius should be applied outside of my specialism.

* The BOVOX reaction:

Bovril + VegOXO => OXO (100%)

I was reminded of the ghost sign above by Chris Gilliam, who also sent me a picture of this brilliant Bovril one in Leicester itself.

The sign is one of those documented in the My Leicestershire History collection, and I featured an older photograph of it in a post about the collection here: https://ghostsigns.co.uk/2011/05/my-leicestershire-digital-archive-2/.

It's on Beaconsfield Rd, at the junction with Narborough Rd, Leicester LE3. Streetview: https://maps.app.goo.gl/aqjAthDnoiW3gaN27

My Leicestershire Digital Archive| Ghostsigns | Colin Hyde from the Centre for Urban History at Leicester University sent me an email with a fascinating link today. It is to a project he has been curating over the last couple of years which features an unrivalled collection of Ghostsigns from the county of Leicestershire. What is most interesting about the c.250 images in
