About 30 years ago, my sister and I found ourselves at a theme restaurant in #Anaheim where they served drinks in #cowboy #boot-shaped #mugs. They came back to Australia with us, and they’re probably still collecting dust on her bookcase.

Those mugs live on in my head, rent-free, BTW. My inner, frustrated anthropologist ruminates frequently on how #kitsch anchors the identities of people from differing socioeconomic backgrounds.
