Phantom Pain Wings by Kim Hyesoon

Dropping this one - not getting much out of it and the translator lost my trust. #books #poetry #poetryintranslation #booksbywomen

String Light by CD Wright

Bit too demanding for me - I didn't get much of anything out of reading this. #poetry #booksbywomen

Love Me Through the Rain 2 by A'zayler

I have a hard time with modern romance but this is entertaining. Two deeply flawed characters, a bunch of side plots, and all the drama. Seems to be a single novel split up into 4 parts. #books #booksbywomen

Sword of Damocles by Anna Katherine Green.

This has dreadfully outdated morals in the worst sort of way yet is deeply entertaining. Has it all. Forbidden romance, a mystery, action scenes, money trouble, redemption and betrayal. I listed to the free Librivox audiobook for most of it until it got too suspenseful, then switched to an ebook. https://librivox.org/the-sword-of-damocles-by-anna-katharine-green/ #books #booksbywomen

Cicada by Phoebe Giannisi

I'm no good at commenting on poetry - taking more time with it would probably help but unless it really grabs me I'm unwilling. I liked this author's Homerica better than this one. #books #poetry #booksbywomen #translatedbooks

Think I'll try posting on here again. Reading Vol III of Amymone by Eliza Lynn Linton atm, it's historical fiction inspired by real ancient Greek history. Not recommended in the slightest but it's part of my attempt to read more classic SFF by women and is kinda similar to modern fantasy epics. Strongly multi-POV including villain POVs. I doubt the influence is direct, this one is only borderline speculative. #books #classicSFF #booksbywomen

I just want to say... if you only buy and read one book this year, let it be this book. I read it all in virtually one sitting, couldn't put it down. It's an anthology of short stories by Afghan women, written and collected shortly before the Taliban takeover. Every single story is exquisitely written - not a flaw in any of them. They are all utterly heartbreaking, so prepare yourself for all the feelings. But please read it, it's worth its weight in gold. #books #booksbywomen #writing
December 2022 Reads for the Rest of Us

Each month, we provide Ms. readers with a list of new books being published by writers from historically excluded groups. I want to do my part in the disruption of the “norm” in the book world for far too long—white, cis, heterosexual, male—and to amplify indie publishers and amazing works by writers who are women, Black, Indigenous, Latinx, APIA/AAPI, international, queer, trans, nonbinary, disabled, fat, immigrant, Muslim, neurodivergent, sex-positive or of other historically marginalized identities. You know ... the rest of us.
