Fouth Book In August: "Le Cycle de Pendragon, tome 1: Taliesin" by Stephen Lawhead
Today I finished the 2025 International Booker Prize winner "Heart Lamp" by Banu Mushtaq (translation from Kannada to English by Deepa Bhasthi). The original stories were written in Kannada, a language spoken by 65 million people.
The stories are based around the lives of Muslim women, families and patriarchy in Southern India. I enjoyed the book, and recommend you read the translator's note.

Confession: I have read the book โThe Adventures of Pinocchioโ and seen the 1984 movie of the same name, but never seen the Disney classic. Tbf, always been too scared to because the book really messed me up as a kid. Like, that book is dark and twisted and it messed me up. Especially when he turns into a donkey. The trauma from reading that as a small child is something I will never forget.
