Forever I've been obsessed with bonne maman jam. I think I have memories as a kid of seeing teeny tiny jars of it that someone had nabbed from a hotel or something. For the longest time I thought it only was available in those tiny hospitality single serve jars.. and that kicked off my habit of trying to pinch as many tiny jam jars as possible when I stay places.
What I didn't realise until recently was that those bonne maman jams are actually available in proper sizes, and also in quite large sizes at Costco—the last time I went to Costco I bought the pineapple and passionfruit flavour... and it's amazing.
The existence of bonne maman jam has prompted a vocal stim of "tinybabyjam!" everytime I see them, which evolved to "GIANTteenytinybabyjam!" upon discovery of the Costco version.
Also, they do an advent calendar.
My favorite fancy-schmancy grocery store has my favorite brand of fancy-schmancy jam on sale for $4/jar. I also have a $20-off-your-$100-purchase coupon.
I have not yet been able to dismiss the idea of buying 25 jars of jam.
Day 24: poires aux éclats de cacao (pear with cocoa nibs)

Had to give this one a stir before spreading, because the cocoa nibs had floated to the top of the jar and weren't evenly distributed. Not such a big deal in a teeny one-slice-of-toast size container, but would be an issue in a larger package.
Slightly grainy texture (understandable because that's the texture of pears!) and a light colour offset by the little flecks of cocoa nib. Very pretty! The pear jam on its own would be too sweet, but the bitter cocoa offsets that nicely. This 100% feels like it should be served in some sort of delicate, buttery puff pastry (but it's still pretty good on my standard wheat toast)
8/10 a solid and creative final offering, but there needed to be more cocoa nibs & better distributed in the jar!
Day 23: abricots à la fleur d'oranges (apricot and orange blossom)
Great colour and texture; very fruity. Jammy with soft chunks of fruit. Not really detecting the orange blossom; it tastes and looks like an excellent apricot jam.
9/10 a really tasty apricot jam, but I expected something from the orange blossom & it's just not adding enough uniqueness
Day 22: mirabelles à la fleur de tilleul (mirabelle plums with linden flower)
I have no idea what a linden flower tastes like, so this one was an adventure from before the jar even opened! Had to look them up. The Internet informs me they're from the hibiscus family, commonly made into tea, and are supposed to taste similar to chamomile
On actually tasting: soft jammy texture, big chunks of plum, and a decidedly chamomile-like scent! Was really expecting this to just taste like straight-up plums, but the flowers really come through and give it a nectar-like feeling.
10/10, delicious!
Day 21: ananas et fruits de la passion (pineapple passion fruit)
Mostly passion fruit flavour and smell, with the same fibrous pineapple chunks that we had earlier in the month with the pineapple yuzu. A bit too chunky for easy spreading. Absolutely delicious with cheese, and paired well with a variety of options (but was nicest with mild cheddar)
9/10 great taste but not 100% on the texture!
