Álvaro Fernández-Llamazares, etnobotanico dell’Università Autonoma di Barcellona, e autore principale dello studio, ha notato per la prima volta questa tendenza durante il suo lavoro di ricerca nella comunità indigena Tsimane’ nella foresta pluviale boliviana.

The Loss of Large Bird Populations
Many indigenous peoples and local communities live in deep connection with nature, learning from a young age to identify the fauna that surrounds them. A new study published in the International Journal of Conservation is based on this knowledge to examine a scientifically documented phenomenon: the decline of large bird populations.
Álvaro Fernández-Llamazares, an ethnobotanist from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, and lead author of the study, first noticed this trend during his research work with the Tsimane’ indigenous community in the Bolivian rainforest.
