Our #Bokashi composting is a huge success. We utilise two bokashi fermentation bins which we keep in the covered area outside the kitchen back door. Our internal food waste caddy gets filled daily and emptied into the fermentation bins each evening. They then fill up over the course of two weeks when one (from previous fortnight) gets emptied into our three composting "daleks" and we swap the two bokashi bins over. The Three bins in the garden move down the line. A Empty into B, B empties into C and C is final usable compost.
I just opened up bin A and it was moving. Thousands of red garden worms, working hard breaking down the food and garden waste .
Bin B is almost usable too. But bin C. Full of dark, crumbly rich compost.
Been a real success. Going to stick with it. I think this year I want to investigate biochar. Activating it in a bokashi tea bath, then mixing that in to provide nutrient capture, water retention and carbon capture and availability for our veg growing at the allotment.
