Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), known for his staunch fiscal conservatism, is making it clear: he’s a firm #NO on the #Republican #debt plan.

In a C-SPAN interview, #Massie dismantles the party’s own talking points, revealing that even under the most optimistic assumptions, the proposal adds hundreds of billions to the #deficit in the coming years. According to Massie, leadership’s numbers show a $328 billion increase in 2025 alone—with no real plan to control spending beyond vague promises of future restraint.

Having served in #Congress for 12 years, Massie has seen multiple so-called “10-year plans” under #Boehner and #Ryan—none of which ever played out as promised. He remains skeptical that this time will be any different.

With the deficit skyrocketing and fiscal responsibility on the line, Massie’s message is clear: empty promises won’t fix #America’s #economic future.

#Speaker #MikeJohnson never called me,” Buck said. “[#KevinMcCarthy] would have yelled…&… #Boehner would have broken my arm.…”

The…defeat stunned many in the #House #GOP …, who were incredulous Johnson would roll the dice on such a consequential vote. It was the latest in a tenure marred by #chaos & frustration, w/members losing patience w/an inexperienced leader who…has made serious tactical missteps overseeing an unwieldy conference that even #Republicans admit may be impossible to corral.

Ask the last 3 #Republican House Speakers (#Boehner, #PaulRyan & now #kevinmccarthy they'll all tell you it's the worst job in American politics. Repubs did it to themselves by gerrymandering the hell out of their own districts so only increasingly extreme candidates could win.

Tracking the Election for House Speaker – Round 2

Sorry this is late. I was waiting for round 3 but I should've known Gym Shorts would take his bat and one remaining ball and slouch off the stage to spread gloom and grumpiness away

I didn’t like #boehner , but I never disliked him so much that I wanted to make him be #gopspeaker again.

Md. Police Put Activists' Names On Terror Lists

The Maryland State Police classified 53 nonviolent activists as terrorists and entered their names and personal information into state and federal databases that track terrorism suspects, the state police chief acknowledged yesterday.

#McCarthy suggests that Matt #Gaetz is not a real #conservative, after voting w/ #Democrats against #GOP spending bills. “It had nothing to do about spending," he said, adding, "It was all about getting attention.”

McCarthy says he “hasn’t thought about” #resigning from Congress. There is some precedent for that: When John #Boehner faced a motion to vacate in 2015, he relinquished the speaker’s gavel & resigned rather than face a vote on the #House floor.

...there was a time fairly early on in second string budget negotiations during the #Obama administration when the administration and Senate committee members slipped up badly and left a short technical window open for extremists seeking severe cuts to Social Security and Medicare. #Boehner was one of the few to notice. Instead of wielding a match he ran interference until the window could be closed. They still haven't caught on

white people trying to rehabilitate John #Boehner's reputation is a symptom of the sickness that allows the Republican Party and conservatives to retain so much power.
