in chess, a masc/male-dominated game that’s been around for hundreds of years:

the king, while being the most important, is the most impotent. it's to be protected at all costs but contributes little.

the queen is the most powerful piece on the board, but with that power comes immense responsibility. she’s forced to take on competing roles, balancing both offense and defense, always carrying the weight of the game.

and pawns can transition into another piece (including a second queen) if the pawn can navigate an entire battlefield with perseverance, are lucky, and are helped by the pieces around them
