Poised in Blue-Gray

This blue-gray gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) dropped by some time ago. Maybe it was hunting spiders among the crepe myrtles, or just curious about the commotion of birds in the area. Hmmm... I think I may have photographed one before and mistaken it for a tufted titmouse. I’ll need to dig through the old photos and check.

The Fluff Awakens

II bet I got two dozen good images of this blue-gray gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea). Then came the hard part—choosing just one to post this morning. I settled on this shot, which, interestingly enough, was the very first I took. I chose it because I happened to catch the tiny bird with its plumage in disarray at that exact moment. Normally, its feathers are sleek and smooth.

Blue-Gray Delight

A blue-gray gnatcatcher (Polioptila caerulea) made an appearance in my backyard this morning, darting energetically among the branches. There might have been two, but it's hard to tell since they move around so quickly.
