🏡✨From bare bones, head hitting ceiling, messy, and rain soaked mudroom to my new favorite room in the #appalachianmountainbungalow.

What was once just a little covered porch with a slanted roof (that made sure your head hit it every time you went by) is now our hardworking, enclosed #Appalachian mudroom where muddy boots, a cozy entrance to welcome you, and porch patrol pups all have a place. Still simple. Still humble. Just a whole lot more lived in and loved. Warm heater in the winter and cool ceiling fan in the summer.

What is not shown is that one entire wall is all window so the Baby Sharks can lay on the doggie bed and look out the window of the cars going by... and Cali & Smoky the cats.

I adore this little space and I never expected to love a smoky blue color so much. 🐾🪵

Years ago, I saw a fantastic pattern on Pinterest called the Mabel Blanket. It's a black and white granny square pattern. I've always meant to create it but no time. This Fall, during renovations, I decided to make it into a scarf.

The problem is that I kept making #GrannySqaures and forgot to stop. 😂

This extra long granny square scarf is ready for the Blue Ridge Mountains winds, front porch hot chocolate, and long walks through frost tipped leaves (and hopefully some snow ❄️) with the #Yorkies to the Biscuit Place. Handmade just like my own Grandmother used to crochet and right at home in an #Appalachian winter 🏔️🤍

The bear doggie coats are just a bonus for this picture. So cute on the Baby Sharks! 🐶

🏡✨ Our little bungalow in Appalachia has a secret problem: swampy flood zone.

The back of our property has a small creek across it. During #Helene, the back yard flooded but no serious damage. Our yard is not perfect. It squishes when you walk and boots are a must but everything grows beautifully here.

Appalachians know that soil matters but "dirt" is our history. It's in our souls and bloodlines. I desperately tried to buy my grandparents farm but the owners prefer to leave it abandoned and unused. So, it is time to make my own history with new soil.

....and add several French drains.
🌱💦

Here’s to building a life where the land is ready for planting, the porch is waiting, and the mud is just part of the welcome. 🌳❤️
