I got the privilege to be invited to meet the wonderful team and eat at Blue Hill restaurant at Stone Barns during my stay in New York City and this will stay with me as a marquant and warm memory.
Lovely, dedicated and attentive people. Very generous.

They make magic with vegetables.
And forage and harvest from their own woods, gardens and fields.
You can for example order a drink at the bar from one corner of the land.

I ate on a high table for three and a half hour a menu that was created specifically for me.

Blue Hill made the New York Times! This is an article about an attempted book banning at our library. I was on the library board when this happened, and I was very proud of how seriously we all treated the issue, and very proud of the decision we reached. #bookban #BlueHill #Maine

‘My Heart Sank’: In Maine, a Challenge to a Book, and to a Town’s Self-Image

Wealthy, liberal-leaning Blue Hill prided itself on staying above the fray — until the library stocked a book that drew anger from the left.

We had a warm winter and little snow, but we got hit by some major wind storms that wreaked havoc along the coast. My favorite lobster place lost their dining pier. #BlueHill #Maine

Aww.

For a span of life, I lived in #MidCoast #Maine, and listened to a lot of community radio on #WERU, out of #BlueHill.

One of the the regular short programs, of poems, astronomical events, farming advice, and seasonal reminders was the Awanadjo Almanack. It was a joy every time it came on, and the wit and wisdom of its creator, Rob McCall, was apparent.
He passed in April of this year, at 79, alas! https://weeklypacket.com/news/2023/may/19/a-community-remembers/

A community remembers

When Brooklin resident Rob McCall passed away on April 21 at the age of 79, the community responded with an outpouring of tributes. WERU, where McCall authored and produced the weekly Awanadjo Almanack (also a column in this paper and other publications), immediately posted the news to their site, saying that McCall’s “voice was, to countless people, a warm embrace full of wisdom, wit, and compassion.”

Not much view that day from the summit of Blue Hill, since there was a repair construction going on for the stone observation tower. We don’t hike for views these days. So much going on in the forest.

Through the tree trunks… was more #Mosstodon of course! 🌥️

We went to hike up Blue Hill. It’s been quite a while….

The river otter who lives at the foot of the hill, in one of the MassAudubon’s unreleasable wildlife enclosures, was already tucked in her crib indoors, and we missed seeing her today! She now has a better space as they rebuilt it last year. Well, I have many photos of her, and this is one of my favs.
