My #BloodRedSkies #WW2 #BattleOfMidway #USSYorktown game at #Nashcon2025. Four dive bombers got hits but only one was substantial

The second #BloodRedSkies event this weekend was Midway: Sink the Yorktown! This event featured a 1/200 scale model of the USS Yorktown! A Wildcat CAP defended her from an incoming wave of Zeros and Val dive bombers. The Wildcats splashed two Kates but ultimately were outmatched by the Zeros. One Val dropped a 500 lb bomb through the Yorktown's flight deck but it failed to cause significant damage. However, a second Val's bomb penetrated the hanger deck and extinguished several of her boilers.

The first #BloodRedSkies game this weekend was Operation Vengeance: the Yamamoto Assassination! The American players did not know which of two Bettys had Yamamoto. The Americans split their forces but overflew Ugaki, allowing his Betty to escape unscathed. The other Betty was shot three times, but none of them struck Yamamoto (as opposed to historically!), and Yamamoto's Betty was able to limp away, too.
