Hm... I got some 28 count even-weave fabric ("Quaker Cloth," 55% linen, 45% cotton). I love the feel and the look, but it's definitely pretty see-through. I really hope I can manage to plan my blackwork patterns so threads don't show through from the back...

Apparently the Met has open access pictures of samplers with designs that are basically blackwork! I didn't find them last time I searched because they're under "double running stitch" rather than "blackwork" specifically.

Testing colors for my Alhambra tile embroidery! I'm just using some that I already have, but I think they work pretty well? (Just ignore the error in blue!)

I also tested using backstitch to see if the lines were smoother than double running stitch, but I don't think so. (Bottom right red block is double running for comparison.)

I'm going to be doing this on even-weave fabric rather than aida fabric for the first time; just gotta order it!

After many years of making fibre art (mainly crochet amigurumi) for my family, my friends and myself, I’m in the process of creating a studio named Srigurumi¹, where people can order hand-made creations (custom-made according to one’s wishes or things I have already made) and learn to crochet 🎉
