#Mastodon and the #Fediverse needs to be more honest with itself in my opinion. We still live in a society tarnished by inequality and inequity there’s an imbalance of power between instances because of that who can afford to make an instance and who can’t. Moderation is great but we need to realize mastodon will continue to be an imperfect platform while we live in an oppressive society under oppressive rule. It’s good to create safe spaces for users but moderating bigots into there own bigoted corner of the internet will present problems in the future.

We can not fall into the trap of convincing ourselves otherwise isolating the bigots is a must for our safety now but we should be trying to address systems like capitalism, racism, the criminal justice system, poverty and more if we want to honestly build a better mastodon and a better world. I just hope we don’t pretend blocking communication from people who have no idea how to contextualize the problems facing us all is the answer to our problems in and of it self. it’s a tactic to actually start dealing with destructive institutions proactively in my opinion at least. #Anarchism

Also I think we should remember institutional basis ruins deep and humans are humans no matter what and our current institutions don’t always like to treat people kind and with their humanity in mind first.

I think we should keep people’s humanity in mind and know we are no “superior” or “inferior” than anyone no matter what they do. being human is a complex natural occurrence we don’t really understand fully yet and modern society hasn’t homed an environment that encourages humility or conscious consideration for the plight your fellow human beings face.

I’ll recommend #DareMe too y’all there’s a black queer main character her story is complicated her name’s addy she’s a young black girl living in a small town and she’s marginalized she has big dreams to go big as a cheerleader and she’s very susceptible to manipulation and this is the case with her coach manipulating her to be an accomplice to a crime. I personally ship her with her best friend, Beth, and without spoiling anything there’s history between them it’s a thriller story. I like it even tho it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I like that they weren’t afraid to address heavy topics with a black queer main character. Sadly it got cancelled tho it doesn’t look like it’s coming back but it’s a good watch. #AddyHanlon #BethCassidy #BlackQueerFinds
