The new Empath #Filter module for #VCVRack looks amazing. There is a nice intro video from #OmriCohen. I can well imagine running this as an FX bus through #BitwigStudio on #Linux and other platforms.

#GraphicsProgramming and #Linux folk. I have questions about #OpenGL vs #Vulkan
Dodgy looking websites like OpenLib.io (which appears factual, but has zero credentials which makes me suspicious) seems to have information about one being implicit (OpenGL) and the other being explicit (Vulkan) and how Vulkan is the future for GPU compute, but OpenGL is solid and old-school for graphics.
Are we at a point where Vulkan can be reliably chosen as a GPU toolset? It seems to have been around for a long time, but only recently have #Blender started offering this, and now #BitwigStudio are pushing us to use this (could explain why the latest pre-release is crashing as I have been avoiding Vulkan due to not knowing if it is reliable enough yet).
Questions: where do you get your information on things like this which comes from reliable sources? Is an older 2080ti able to run Vulkan instructions efficiently enough that I can switch over to it?
I am wary and don't like change.
Pre-release #BitwigStudio v6.0.7 on #Linux won’t launch. I get a splash screen and then it quietly goes away and nothing.
Have reported.
I am tediously crafting a #BitwigStudio port of my old #Reason Drum Kits so I can have a particular 'sound'. The exercise is valid in that it is pushing me to concentrate on the mappings of samples, reading the NN-XT sampler settings in Reason and converting these to meaningful information for Bitwig.
There are 9.8k sample files. There are recordings for Room, Close, under the Snare, and Overhead.
I'm building a nifty spreadsheet on #kDrive as a first exercise of working outside of #Google.
And I am listening to #BernardPurdie and #ElvinJones while teasing out the various details.
I am very eager to start programming and making some sounds. #ElectronicMusicProduction
I'll have to stop myself and call it a an update and keep stuff for the next release - now the fun part: finishing the handbook updates ... meh. :D
R-Kontrol v1.7 - coming now very soon.

Friends of #BonkWave and #NotBonkWave! May I present to you my new AS 248 Sequencer preset for #BitwigStudio v6.0 and above.
Great for #ExperimentalMusic #ElectronicMusicProduction and #AcousticMeditation

Updated 13 May 2026. Built it in v6.0. See notes below. Enjoy! Here is something new - I am obsessed with the musicality, and complexity of Don Buchla's various modular devices. The Buchla 248 MARF is no exception. After looking at the most excellent Suzanne Ciani Buchla Cookbook interpretation in
Sometimes more is not better. I went a bit mad with my #BitwigStudio preset yesterday and made a much more complex version that I thought would more faithfully mimic the #Buchla248, but all it did was generate sadness by becoming unusable.
So I stripped it back and focused on what I could do with the Stack Spread options and I have something I am pretty happy with. It's more than the basic prototype and a number of issues have been addressed and now it is capable of making a lot of fun noises and rhythms.
The Polymetric Polyphonic Spaceship of the Mind is nearing completion. I just need to decide if I will share it and write up some instructions. Who am I kidding? I'll probably get to that tonight.
I've been obsessed with the #Buchla #248 #MARF and the incredible sequencing that it can do. There is an amazing #VCVRack interpretation of #SuzanneCiani's #BuchlaCookBook and I had a brain wave two days ago while staring at the ceiling in the hospital (I am home now).
What we have here is my first audio demo of my #AS248Sequencer. It's a bodged #MARF-Lite where I have movement, multiple play-heads (3 in this case) and have made my own versions of the "Ciani Sequences" from the Cook Book. There's complex oscillations and low-pass gates. All in #BitwigStudio. It is ridiculously fun to perform on and hours roll by and my mind wanders to the good places.
I can be a little loud at parts so mind your ears!

There’s this amazing #TipTop #Buchla #Eurorack panel that has just come out. It’s the #248 #MARF. It’s ridiculously cool, powerful and expensive.
Now that I know I can make controls in #BitwigStudio I am looking forward to developing a #performative #ElectronicMusic setup that is based on #SuzanneCiani’s #BuchlaCookbook following the most excellent #Pyer #VCVRack emulation.
