A white-throated dipper (Wasseramsel) sits alert near the water. Its brown head, distinctive white chest, and dark plumage are clearly visible. The bird appears calm and attentive, while the soft green background highlights the fine feather details and the bird’s bright eye.

A Story in One Frame

This American robin (Turdus migratorius) was grabbing something last spring. It turned out to be a twig. Perhaps the robin was nest building. They are supposed to be year around residents here, but I only see them in the spring.

"Robins eat a lot of fruit in fall and winter. When they eat honeysuckle berries exclusively, they sometimes become intoxicated." - allaboutbirds.org

You know, the photographs that I post here are not quite a vivid as the same photographs that I post at my pixel's gallery, because here, I reduce the size of the photos and usually make a slight reduction in the quality of the photos to make them easier to load.

Prehistoric.

Here is a magnificent frigatebird (Fregata magnificens). I believe this is a first-year juvenile, identified by the white head and breast. I just realized that I'm not sure if I've ever seen an adult. I'll need to look through my photos more carefully.

"Beachgoers delight in this large, black pterodactyl-like bird that soars effortlessly on tropical breezes with hardly a flap, using its deeply forked tail to steer. Watching a Magnificent Frigatebird float in the air truly is, as the name implies, magnificent. These master aerialists are also pirates of the sky, stealing food from other birds in midair. Males have a bright red pouch on the throat, which they inflate like a balloon to attract females. Females unlike most other seabirds look different than males with their white chest." - allaboutbirds.org
