Oh one more thing! This particular cam allows for close focus, like 6 inches I think? So you can get some incredible shots! (if you look at the tag #BirdsOfTheShire you'll see some of the photos and videos I've gotten)

After a week of no visitors to the birding station, we got a flurry of activity yesterday.

Including a new friend!

I believe this is a song sparrow

We are on the traditional lands of the Kwantlen, Stolo, and Semiahmoo people. (the Pacific Northwest)

Love supporting my local Stellar's Jay family!

Sometimes the bird cam captures a photo that is so hilarious I just bust out laughing...

This was one of those times.

The other day saw a group of chickadees check out the bird feeder and bath in the yard!

(warning for sound - there are lots of cute chickadee peeps, but also a neighbour mowing the lawn)

The new bird friend that visited yesterday, and the resident Stellar's Jay.

From my research last night I feel very confident in saying this is a male red-shafted Northern Flicker.

SO excited to have a new bird friend.

I know we should not anthropomorphize crows but the way this lil dude keeps wiping their beak after drinking reminds me of how I have to do that little under the faucet finger thing whenever I'm cooking (IYKYK)

Friend came back this morning bright and early before I had a chance to put the peanuts out.
