It was great to see at least 3 fledglings from the nest being fed from the busy parents, showing them where to get any easy meal when they can fend for themselves.

The Blue Tits have worked really hard to feed the young in the nest box. Feeding has been every 30 seconds or so.

It really is tough for birds to successfully bring up offspring to adulthood. I don’t think one of the Robin fledglings survived the first night and the second I think perished after the second night. A fledgling being protected by an adult which was trying to get it to move to somewhere safer with more cover. At this stage they are extremely vulnerable. We even saw an adult attacking a Grey Squirrel that was getting too close to it.

We were privileged to see this Robin fledging from the nest in the ivy. It was second one to leave the nest. It was not able to fly and basically jumped onto a twig and clung on. It sat there until one of the adults came with some food.
