I really like the advice of Prof. Katherine Lee in "#Career paths for #academic #biostatisticians" (https://doi.org/10.25374/MCRI.24226324.v1). Prof. Lee describes not just types of career but also how to progress in them. It's easy to forget (or be unaware of) the diversity of work that (bio)statisticians are involved in and this gives a nice overview.
