I was certain it was possible to access alpha missense annotations on uniprot not so long ago, for example here :

Does anyone know the reason they are not available anymore ? Any alternative ?

A question for my #bionformatics #HPC friends: Has anyone implemented checkpoint-and-restore for PAML codes? We have a researcher whose requests for very long jobs have reached very long runtime levels (weeks and even months of single-process continuous running) and it’s beginning to interfere with normal system maintenance, besides being difficult to support operationally. We’ve tried encouraging use of parallelized newer codes, but no luck: they insist on using older single-threaded ones.

Experienced #biology grant writers, how do you personally estimate the time the various work packages will take? For example, I'm trying to plan out how long it will take to run various #bionformatics packages I never have before, and that were benchmarked on Arabadopis or Drosophila rather than a vertebrate genome like I plan to.
