Since Bill C-12 passed, some refugee claimants are receiving ineligibility letters from IRCC. The letter states that if found ineligible for referral to the Refugee protection, you will face removal from Canada. But being found ineligible to continue your refugee claim with the RPD, DOES NOT MEAN AUTOMATIC DEPORTATION. It is likely that you will be invited to apply for a PRRA.

I just learned of a local Palestinian family whose asylum application might be denied under Bill C-12. I wrote my local MP Peter Fragiskatos ([email protected]) and Immigration Minister Lena Diab ([email protected]) to intervene in this case and do the right thing. Please read the article I linked to below and consider doing the same.

Bill C-12 has passed Senate and will become law soon. It's a dangerous law that could expand deportations, deny refugee protection, and give the government new powers over migrants’ lives.
