Thank you very much for hosting, Phil! @ascentale !

I loved ##BikeSchool at the old site when it wasn't deplorable and thanks for picking it up after ...forgot who, wasn't able to keep it up.

#BikeNite

@grammasaurus @BarbChamberlain I hope you can tune in to this week's #BikeNite (we are carrying on the #BikeSchool tradition but in the Fediverse)
@ascentale @bikenite I am posting, again, from outside Boston. This week I upsized the chainring (from 42 to 46 teeth) on my 20" rear wheel cargo bike to get a slightly more favorable gearing while still fitting the chainguard. Middle child *cracked the chain stay off the bottom bracket* on his (20-year-old) daily bike, so we swapped it for another bike and I will be harvesting parts from the sad frame (and we got a bunch of house stuff done). A1 #BikeSchool

Loved #BikeSchool at the destroyed place, and enjoy #BikeNite so much too as the closest to that community.

Being fascinated by things other people enjoy, but without feeling I need to feel the same way.

I don't care that much for #Ants. But @futurebird posts about them bring me joy, especially when she joined the #Monsterdon movie that had giant ants.

#Knitting is another one. @Archergal and @lizbon post things they're working on I enjoy without wanting to become a knitter myself.

@ascentale @uxmark

A6. I've written about this before, but not sure if here or at the old Twitter #BikeSchool .

Bicycling at night, got a bit lost on a dead end street with no lights. Came across a giant skull. At night with no lights it was really spooky.

Finding out it was just a mini golf course decoration was a bit disappointing.

#BikeNite

@meganL A1. I'm in Oakland CA where it's been a busy week! I migrated here after the xitter takeover and used a few of the tools to find people who I used to follow there on the Fediverse. Maybe through that or the #BikeTooter hashtag, I saw that @jeremy_ai (no longer active here sadly) was trying to recreate the #BikeSchool experience here.

I might not make it all #BikeNite - I will be seeing Coach Balto of #BikeBus fame shortly! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-talk-with-coach-balto-bike-buses-and-community-building-tickets-1005263158167

Making me aware that there are a lot of people with disabilities that bicycle. Which I should have known, as my spouse has an "invisible" disability. But your mentioning it often really opened my mind more.

Paraphrasing because I can't remember exact quote.

"Like someone on the internet saying, I have thought about your position and changed my mind"--Michael from "The Good Place" TV show saying things that never happen.

#BikeSchool before
#BikeNite but still applies.

@ascentale @meganL To me #CripCycling fits with the spirit of #CripTheVote but I say that as a non-crip wanting to support #OwnVoices. When I did a Twitter #BikeSchool related to this topic Gabrielle Peters chose #WheelsMoveMe to represent the overlap of cycling and assistive devices. http://bikestylespokane.com/2019/12/10/welcome-to-our-twitter-chat-bikeschool-moveequity-wheelsmoveme/

As a non-competitive bicyclist, it's hard to explain to other people why the old #BikeSchool at the destroyed place, and the current #BikeNite here in the Fediverse (Mastodon for me) bring me such joy.

But it does. Even the competitive bicyclist have good points and I don't feel looked down on here and called "Fred" just because I'm an overweight utilitarian bicyclist.
