My trusted steed just passed the 23,000km mark today.
Looks like it needs new rotors, pads, chain and maybe a cassette and at least an afternoon of my time
Wishing him many more km

this simple folding mechanism of my basic mtb has endured more than I expected. in fact it's not for extreme jumps or acrobatics but at least, it has not been bad for my rides on the hills... 🚲🚵♂️
That does not look right.
I installed that with the torque key so I am a bit puzzled and annoyed
@isol oh okay, this is definitely not that, this is a seam, or line, or whatever it is, following around the tube's circumference. I think on a wall, mostly. (as opposed to the road-facing side or something like that._)
as for the rubber aging, yeah totally could be, idk, i mean, after five and a half years i'm fine with retiring this one?
but if it were only a year or two old i'd be leaning towards patching and keeping it as a backup if nothing else
I just built a small spreadsheet with my inventory of spares for bikes
after having three bikes and tuning them with many parts, I hadn't considered this basic thing which should have been the first... 🤪🚲🛞
it's the first time that during my ride, the left crank of my mtb came off and I was left without the nut where it's tightened, so I came back like turtle trying to pedal with extreme care... I didn't know exactly why, but lately some parts have been loosening up just to go through rough terrain, when they're supposed to have to endure more.... 😮💨 😕
Bought myself a pair of lightly used Schwalbe Marathon Winter tyres 2nd hand. Size on tyre is 35-622 or 700-35c. Rim on the DT Swiss MA 1.9 wheel says 622x20.
Other 700c tyres fit like a glove, but this Marathon Winter is way too big in circumference and won't seat.
What the hell is up? I've never felt so confused with something so seemingly simple and very familiar.
even the little details make a difference... in this case, I changed the bell in my humble mtb and the pedals of my ebike... 👍🚲🚵♂️ 👇 before/after
