"A few weeks ago, a friend who is rewilding her land in western Sonoma County raised questions about the oak’s history. She estimated that the tree looked to be around 400 years old. If so, it was possibly cultivated by Indigenous people who relied heavily on oak trees for food, baskets and firewood."
