@vozercozer no... The problem with tobacco is how addictive nicotine is. Like the most addictive thing we know of. So people starting smoking is the issue - if we could stop Tobacco getting its claws in people, the demand would fizzle and die.
Instead of people going through that.
Tobacco kills HALF its users. Half! We would not allow ANY new product with that risk. The problem is addicts already exist.
So it's about phasing it out. It's not ageism, the point is that people start smoking at some time so you block access before then.
Existing smokers need quit strategies and that's a different ballgame. That's why we now have plain packaging, health warnings, advertising bans and purchase by request only, not on the shelves.
