Something worth learning from #China. Entities that are too popular pose a danger.

Look at people that you are thinking of interacting with if they have more than 3000 followers and only been on fedi since #Nov2022 then it is *very* likely they are using or have used #botFarms to game the #ExploreTimeline, for followers.

This #PopularityModel was abuse on #BigSocialMedia. Since #Nov22 its come to #fediverse.

Limit interactions with them especially if they post images a lot.

@edwardchampion I'm coming to the conclusion that the only way out of the quagmire of #BigSocialMedia is the #Fediverse. If politicians like #JamaalBowman, and #Twitter stars, such as #Obama and Swift, championed #Mastodon and other parts of the Fediverse, it could push a large segment of the online population out of the clutches of #CorporateSocialMedia.
We'll never solve this problem of personal security and data harvesting until the corporate #SocialMedia platforms are pushed to the curb.

#TikTok does appear to gather more information than other platforms, and it has fewer opt-outs. When I showed our respite worker the CBC report, she checked her phone and confirmed there was not much she control in terms of information access.

It will be interesting to watch where all this goes. 🙂

I hope so too. There is the possibility this may happen. With the increase in interest in #Mastodon we could see features added that we haven't seen before in #BigSocialMedia
