GSNR is trying to build two massive wood pellet mills in California to log our forests, converting our best natural climate defence into wood pellets, and export them overseas to make dirty electricity in power plants in Asia & Europe. Big biomass has more polluting emissions than coal. Tell Calif officials to #StopGSNR and #BigBadBiomass.

In 2020, CO2 emissions from #biomass combustion (most of it wood burning) in the EU were ca. 600 million tonnes. Almost as much as the German economy that year.

But governments & energy companies can count these as 0 in the energy sector under UNFCCC rules.

This means energy companies burning wood are considered as not emitting anything. A huge incentive to burn more! The emissions are instead withdrawn from UNFCCC land use accounts of the countries producing the biomass.
