Has Trump Had Enough of Netanyahu? Israel Defies U.S., Vows to Continue War in Lebanon

The United States and Iran are set to formally sign an agreement Friday to end military hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and begin negotiations on a long-term peace accord between the two countries. According to terms of the memorandum of understanding obtained by CNN and other media outlets, there is to be “an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon.” The leaked text also promises sanctions relief for Iran and access to the country’s frozen assets held abroad, as well as a $300 billion fund for reconstruction and development. The memo reiterates Iran’s long-held position that it will never produce nuclear weapons, with the fate of its nuclear program delayed until further negotiations. Israel has vowed to ignore the U.S.-Iran agreement and maintain its occupation of southern Lebanon, with many Israeli leaders and commentators expressing outrage about the apparent terms of the deal for being too conciliatory to Iran. President Trump, meanwhile, has expressed criticism of Israel’s actions in Lebanon. “Trump’s had enough,” says Israeli political analyst Ori Goldberg, speaking to Democracy Now! from Tel Aviv. “He hasn’t had enough because he cares about the Palestinians or about Lebanon. He’s had enough of Netanyahu’s disrespect. He’s had enough of the notion that it’s actually Netanyahu who’s calling the shots.”

#DNC Autopsy of 2024 Loss Doesn’t Mention #Gaza or #Israel at all

Commissioned from an outside consultant, the 192-page report on why Democrats lost doesn't address a key source of disillusionment with the party.

“The data clearly showed that Gaza had hurt Biden and Harris.”

by Noah Hurowitz, May 21 2026

Excerpt: "An in-depth analysis of the 2024 presidential campaign commissioned by the Democratic National Committee fails to mention the party’s position on Israel’s genocide in Gaza, prompting harsh criticism from Arab American members of the party.

"The 192-page report, authored by a Democratic strategist and first published by CNN on Thursday morning, goes in-depth on several factors found to be detrimental to Vice President #KamalaHarris’s campaign in its ultimate loss to #DonaldTrump. Despite the contention within the party over then-President #JoeBiden’s support for Israel’s genocidal campaign against #Palestinians in Gaza, however, the war doesn’t get a single mention.

"Also missing from the document are the words 'Israel,' 'Palestine,' 'Arab American,' and 'Muslim.'

"A spokesperson for the DNC declined to comment on the omission of anything having to do with Gaza, instead pointing The Intercept to a Substack written by party chair Ken Martin in which he acknowledged what the committee found to be several shortcomings by the report’s author, Democratic strategist Paul Rivera.

"One policymaker who spoke with Rivera in July 2025 for the qualitative, fact-finding portion of the autopsy research told The Intercept that he was surprised when the report emerged with no mention of Gaza or the resulting conflicts within the Democratic coalition. He said that his group had discussed the impact of Gaza policy with Rivera at length.

" 'Paul was very clear with us in our conversation that they had done the quantitative review,' said the politico, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the issue, 'and that the data clearly showed that Gaza had hurt Biden and Harris.' "

The Silence That Meets the Rape of #Palestinians

Male and female Palestinians describe brutal sexual abuse at the hands of #Israel’s prison guards, soldiers, settlers and interrogators.

By Nicholas Kristof
May 11, 2026

"There is no evidence that Israeli leaders order rapes. But in recent years they have built a security apparatus where sexual violence has become, as a United Nations report put it last year, one of Israel’s 'standard operating procedures' and 'a major element in the ill treatment of Palestinians.' A report out last month, from the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor, a Geneva-based advocacy group often critical of Israel, concludes that Israel employs 'systematic sexual violence' that is 'widely practiced as part of an organized state policy.' Israeli airstrike kills Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil

Rescue workers say a Lebanese journalist was killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon. The daily Al-Akhbar newspaper says its reporter Amal Khalil was killed on Wednesday in the southern village of al-Tiri. Khalil had been covering the Israel-Hezbollah war, which resumed in early March, in the shadow of the U.S.-Israeli war in Iran. Earlier on Wednesday, Reporters Without Borders had called on the international community to pressure the Israeli army to allow the rescue of Khalil and others who were in the house. However, rescuers say her body was only retrieved hours later from the rubble.

The Dam Breaks: Democratic Senators Overwhelmingly Reject Arms Sales to Israel

By Matt Sledge

Excerpt: "Democratic senators overwhelmingly voted to block bomb and bulldozer sales to Israel on Wednesday, in a reflection of the Jewish state’s plummeting stock among party rank-and-file and growing anger over the war with #Iran.

"The Democratic votes on the pair of resolutions from Sen. #BernieSanders, I-Vt., were not enough to overcome universal opposition from Republicans.

"Still, the votes represented a watershed moment in the party’s relationship with Israel and the government of Prime Minister Benjamin #Netanyahu. Israel had continued to enjoy strong support from Democratic leaders, despite outrage from the base over the war on #Gaza. Sanders said the votes signaled that party leaders are finally taking note.

" 'This is where the American people are. The polls are very clear: The overwhelming majority of American people do not want to continue to give weapons to Netanyahu and his horrific wars in the Mideast,' he said. 'I think the Democrats have caught on to that. It took a little while, but they caught on to that. But Republicans, I think, are standing in opposition to millions of their own supporters.' "

#GazaSoupKitchen Update

April 5, 2026 by #HaniAlmadhoun, Organizer

"Today is my birthday, and I wanted to share this note with you.

This week felt special.

We expanded. Two new kitchens came online—one in the south, in #Rafah, along the coast, in that narrow sliver of land that Palestinians in Gaza can still access. The other is in central Gaza, in the Middle Area, serving a camp known as #AlQuds.

People are grateful—not just for the meals, but for the fact that we are still here. Many initiatives and charities slowed down or closed after Ramadan. We didn’t.

This brings us to fifteen kitchens in operation, along with two additional contracted sites supporting hospital meal programs. We are now covering four hospitals, from #KhanYounes to #GazaCity. Because of you, we are not just reacting—we are positioned to do more, and to keep showing up.

Our water trucks are still moving, delivering fresh drinking water to communities that have nowhere else to turn. Our two learning centers continue to grow, with one now serving more than fifty students—children holding on to some sense of normalcy.

On the ground, our team has doubled down. We’ve increased field visits and continued distributing modified food parcels directly to tents and shelters.

Today, we also reopened registration.

We received requests from two groups. The first: new families who have not benefited from our work before. We registered 750 families, though after verification, we expect to serve around 500.

The second: 3,000 families signed up for a lighter food parcel. A small package—but for many, it matters.

I don’t think any of us imagined we would be here this long.

The absence of headlines does not mean the absence of suffering. The trauma continues. The conditions persist. And people are still being lost—every day. It is deeply unfair.

But here’s what I hold on to: you and I are doing something. It may feel small in the face of so much, but it is real. It is constant. And it reaches people who would otherwise be left with nothing.

In more personal news, I’ve submitted a manuscript to several publishing houses. It’s a book about the Gaza Soup Kitchen—our losses, the community we’ve built together, and the relief efforts you’ve made possible. It will take time, and I don’t expect much financially from it, but it feels important to document this chapter—truthfully and with care. If any of you are connected to literary agents or publishers, I would be grateful for a conversation.

I hope those of you who observed Passover or Easter found moments of peace and reflection as this holy season comes to a close.

Thank you for standing with us—not just in moments of urgency, but in the long, quiet stretch that follows.

We are still here.

In solidarity,
Hani"
