Bhogi Pandigai marks the first day of the four-day Sankranti/Pongal festivities celebrated across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh & Telangana. 🎉 It is a deeply symbolic festival of cleansing, gratitude and embracing fresh beginnings.
Bhogi is all about letting go of the old, unwanted and stagnant energies in life. On this day, families clean their homes, light up sacred bonfires (Bhogi Mantalu) and offer old wooden items & waste to the flames — symbolising the removal of past burdens & negativity, making space for positivity, prosperity and joy. 🔥🌟
One cherished ritual is Bhogi Pallu, where children dressed in traditional attire are showered with regi pallu (Indian jujube), senagalu (black gram), sugarcane pieces, jaggery, coins and flower petals — believed to bless them with health, protection, abundance and long life. 🌸🍬💰
