I got permission from my boys to post pictures of them. It was great to have them along for the first two days. My younger son's ankle is healing fine.

The first sign is at the summit of #FowlerMountain. The second is #FlatTopMountain, which is the second highest point of the #BentonMacKayeTrail in Georgia, after #SpringerMountain.

Other highlights from my #BentonMacKayeTrail trip... The first night I woke up about 3am and noticed the rain tarp had blown off my son's hammock (it was quite windy). I got up and secured it, and resecured all the lines. Sure enough, a thunderstorm hit at 6 am. My work at 3am kept us all dry.

I went two whole days without seeing another human.

I didn't set up my rain tarp on the last night and the moon was so bright, it woke me up a few times. That same night, a tree fell not 50 yards from my camp. It wasn't even windy!

Shortly before I arrived at the #HiawasseeRiver, the #BentonMacKayeTrail followed #BigLostCreek for about 3 miles. It was so beautiful and magical. There were around 10 different wild flowers blooming along the trail. I saw dozens of butterflies, at least 3 different species.

Can anyone help me identify this lizard?

I crossed two major rivers on my hike on the #BentonMacKayeTrail. In the first two pics is the #OcoeeRiver, which is one of my favorite mountain rivers. I've rafted and kayaked this river many times.

The second river crossing is the #HiwasseeRiver. This is where I ended my trip. The river had tubing and rafting companies set up, but traffic was low

So my favorite mountain on this trip was #BigFrogMountain in Tennessee. It has tunnels of gnarly trees, a magical spring near the summit, beautiful views, and the northern approach trail (part of the #BentonMacKayeTrail) goes along a narrow ridge with steep drops on the left and right. I'll post a video of this in the thread.

That first picture isn't crooked. My phone has a level sensor. That's the tunnels of trees on the side of the mountain.

Yesterday I got home from #backpacking trip along the #BentonMacKayeTrail. The trip started with my and my two teenagers, but one of the boys twisted their ankle going down a mountain. I did a total of 54.8 miles of the #BMT, 13 of which with 2 of my boys.#

I climbed over 11k feet, which is the height of Mt. Hood in Oregon. My favorite mountain was #BigFrogMountain in Tennessee. I'll post more about this in a thread.
