Went to #nokings #benicia today. The crowd went deep into the park. I wouldn't be surprised if 3-5% of the town showed up. There were probably people who went to SF or Oakland for the bigger events. Good turn out.
I saw frog hats and a couple inflatable costumes. Lot's of support from the cars driving by.
I'm going to start collecting art....people using hand drawn or written text. Art for the people by the people. I'll find more words for this, but it is not canva and not graphics.
I'm seriously impressed by the Sound Bath guy's pencil and watercolor business card assemblageon the Bulletin board.
Painted public pianos also kinda fit into this. They are public art pianos, not really protected from the elements.
Maybe it's my protest about needing to have everything look like the human element has been erased, and a "Professional look" that is soulless...

Food is Free is at the Benicia Public Library Weds evenings 5-7 pm. Their website lists a bunch of other Solano County and East Bay locations. Meet Heather who started Food is Free by expanding on the Free Little Library concept during covid, and encouraged others to do the same. Solano County Superviser Monica Brown is also there, and she is a fireball, full of information.
Plus it's in our library, which is full of free resources (and tools).
-you dont have to be local. All they ask is number of people in your household, and of those how many are kiddos, and how many over 65. Everyone is really nice.
The library also collects clean plastic grocery bags for them, so if you have a stash, drop them off. The funding should go to food, not buying bags!
