#Israel / On how Israeli academics lead way in advocating 'process of extermination' of Palestinians (analysis by Nadav Rapaport)
Several prominent Israeli academics have advocated for extreme measures against Palestinians in #Gaza since October 2023. Uzy Raby, a history professor at Tel Aviv University, called for "a process of starvation or a process of extermination" for those who don't evacuate northern Gaza, arguing that conflict in the Middle East requires a special "Middle Eastern spice." Harel Chorev supported forcibly displacing civilians from northern Gaza, while Eyal Zisser urged to "occupy Gaza now." Benny Morris controversially suggested dropping a nuclear bomb on Iran. These scholars often justify their positions by claiming, as Avi Bareli put it, that Palestinians are "a society that worships death," or by echoing Eliahu Yusian's view that there are "no innocent civilians" in Gaza. Critics argue these academics are promoting far-right ideologies and potential war crimes while marginalizing dissenting voices in Israeli academia.
[…] Apart from urging for more potential war crimes and for the occupation of the Gaza Strip, these academics are additionally advancing a seemingly dehumanisation campaign against Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims.
