🇮🇪🇬🇧🆕🚆 Contract signed in #Belfast for new Enterprise fleet on the Dublin–Belfast rail line, attended by senior #Irish, Northern Irish and #UK ministers. #Ireland and Northern Ireland formally signed the deal with #Swiss manufacturer #Stadler for eight FLIRT intercity trains.

The €698m (£548m) cross-border investment, partly funded by the NI Executive, Irish Government and PEACEPLUS support, will deliver tri-mode trains due in 2028. The new fleet will offer around 400 seats, step-free access, improved digital information, charging points, luggage and cycle space, plus enhanced passenger areas.

The trains are designed to run on electric, diesel and battery power, reducing emissions and supporting future electrification. Journey times are expected to fall to under two hours, with capacity for up to 16 services each way daily. Officials said the project will strengthen connectivity, economic growth and sustainable #transport across the Dublin–Belfast corridor.
