Der Mehlkäfer (Tenebrio molitor) gehört zu der Familie der Schwarzkäfer. Seine Larven ("Mehlwürmer") werden gerne an Tiere (u. a. Vögel, Reptilien) verfüttert. Leider entwickeln sich die Larven auch in Haushalten und verderben dort Lebensmittel. Auf der Beliebtheitsskala sind sie in der Hinsicht eher relativ weit unten angesiedelt.

SamThis situation here is why I've been ogling all these thistles lately, and honestly part of why I got the flash. I shot this just tonight but it's too good to leave it in the backlog.
These are Nemognatha nigripinnis - brightly colored, like many blister #beetles, and a little gruesome because they're brood #parasites of bees. Strangely 90% of the flowers I looked at had none of these, but one area about half an hour's walk in had dozens.
