Während der Aufnahmen war die Band durch Tourneen erschöpft - Produzent George Martin nannte sie "kriegsmüde". Singles wie "Eight Days a Week" (US #1) und in Deutschland "No Reply" zeigten trotz Zeitdrucks ihre künstlerische Entwicklung, besonders bei John Lennons vom Bob Dylan beeinflussten Kompositionen.

In the States, it showed up on the “Beatles Vl” album a couple years before “Sgt. Pepper” would be the first of their albums that would be released worldwide with no differences in song content for each one. In other words, what would become their Apple Records label.

I take slight issue with the conventional wisdom on #BeatlesForSale Higher on this list than is usual, it's also a more likable album than Let It Be. Other than 1 bad and 2 uncompelling cover versions, it's a very pleasant surprise when you finally get around to listening to it. Strong opening with 3 excellent songs. I also think Help! sounds more "tired", has more filler, though H! has at least 5 classic, well-known songs on it, so placing above BFS is ok by me
