Progress update on a fully beaded cross-stitch project: galvanized steel and metallic black beads on deep purple 28ct Logwood Lugana. The ornate “Blasphemy! Heresy!” lettering (inspired by Ghost) has been very satisfying.

I haz decided. Finally. My gown for this year's Art Deco Preservation Ball.
Red. Velvet. With black bead work embellishment.
I am adding a center front diamond shape for beadwork, and will be doing beadwork rather than delicate tucks at the shoulder.
The dress for the left is the coat that goes with this gown, which cut similarly. I'm going to completely abandon the original back design, and go with my own, based of historic examples.
I love the tucks? panels? over the butt, to show off the shape before releasing into volume.
The challenge will be to balance my short waisted figure against the impossibly long torso ideal of 1938. No humans have proportions like this. (but notice the proto-Victory rolls in her hair!)
Deadline? End of April.
