There’s a stitch in beadweaving called peyote stitch because indigenous Americans used it to decorate their clothing for religious ceremonies involving peyote. The basic stitch is easy, picking up one bead on every stitch. You can stitch it flat or in the round, and with the use of increases and decreases, you can sculpt it into any form you can imagine.

One innovation with peyote stitch is using different sizes of beads organized into diagonal rows. In this case, beaders call this version Cellini peyote stitch. That is the basis for my beaded beads here, which I call Cellini Barrel Beaded Beads. #beadweaving #rainbow #beading #beads

My Autistim ass: these feather beads would make a neat fidget thingy.

Also my Autistism ass: Well, time to break out my frame loom and glow yarn to do this

Anyway, this took about some time during breaks, a making then destroying of a prototype, using my 2.0 mm needles as a stabliser, and 42 luminscent acrylic feather beads, but I made this fidget fabric. It's very clicky, flexible, and I made it to mimic bird skin. It also glows in the dark, which pleases my glow in the dark lover soul.

(Also, coincidentally, it's rainbow)

Every once in a while I end up with a project that doesn't pan out, and this is one of them 😜.

I thought it would be cool if I could figure out a way to bead imitation rattlesnake tail earrings, and this was the end result. I suppose you can see it if you're in the know, but otherwise, they're just a weird pattern lol. I may try something a little more 3D next to see if it makes a difference but meh 😂🤷‍♀️.

I’m really excited about my current project because RAINBOWS! Also, now that I’m finally liberated from writing my book, I can work on other beading projects without the guilt that I should be finishing the book. (That hung over me for years; crafters’ constipation, anyone?) I already have my next four bead weaving tutorials planned, in various stages of completion. Two are just concepts with sketches, but the other two are much farther along. Here’s a sneak peak at the first one.

Also happy Pride Month to all who celebrate. Live your authentic selves, people. Plus I’m down with any reason to make more rainbows. #beading #beadweaving #rainbow

Since it's the beginning of the month, I thought now would be a good time to share a shop drop 🤗🥰!

The bangle (last photo) was already in there, but the others (bracelets, wrist lanyard, and earrings) have all been added to my website within the last day or two and are ready to find their own addresses 🏡!

If you have a moment to check them out and also share this post while you're here; it would be beyond appreciated 😄🙌. And as a reminder; you can find my shop at desertlilyartistry.mayhem.my 🥰.

New hatband, who dis 👀? Or something like that lol 😜.

Anyway... This is the latest loom-beaded hatband that I've started. I'm not much of a pink lover unless it's a deep magenta (compliments of my fluid art lol), but the concept for this one has me excited to work with the color 😁. And it's also one of the first times I'll be using more than one color of silver-lined beads in a piece. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out 🤗!
