@markwyner I see a lot of substack outrage on the fediverse. It would be very cool that for every "f"them message, there was a pointer to "approved" alernatives that would meet your approval that those authors - who rely on paid substacks to do their work - would be able to move to and utilize instead.
Not some "learn Linux and roll her own blog" something already fully functional that they could move their workflow and business model to.
but like the folks who are (stuck) on deadbirdsite, the substacks that I support are individuals doing a lot of hard work, researching & writing their publications, and areBMT about to go research a better place. It's their current income, and it's working for them.
To get them to move, there needs to be a ready list of alternatives.
IWO, if you're going to hiss/spit/whine about why you're abandoning good people on a bad platform - you might as well put in the effort of collating alternatives.
