BBS software w/no support, but w/Bucko's vast knowledge, maybe one other & myself pushing through to make this 1997 Amiga BBS work w/no modernization other than a y2k patch last month. This is BBSing!

BBSes were born in a spirit of openness and sharing, but it wasn't just a hobby anymore, according to folks like Jack Rickard and Phil Becker. It was "an emerging growth industry of unprecedented opportunity."

They create an account on a #server for every single #hashtag in the #fediverse just so they can #boost every single hashtag that is tooted. 🤣🤣🤣

I don't manage an #instance (I ran a #BBS back in the day and that was enough for me) but I have to think this takes up server or processing resources.

Also, apologies to folks reading these toots with a #screenreader. I understand that it pronounces the word "hashtag" every single time a hashtag is used. I will eventually behave.

I'm working on a wearable computer concept where I use a lilygo T-Deck as the #meshtastic device for a #BBS and run a BBS on a RPI zero with an e-ink screen that I will either clip to a lanyard or wear as a watch. I'm tryign to use the Pwnagatchi project case for the BBS. I have to figure out how to get the TTY output on the e-ink screen to see the BBS activity. People have made meshtastic BBS but not really wearable/portable units.
