Just seen the 100th anniversary of #BattleshipPotemkin at the Pontio… (and no, before you say it, i didn’t see this one when first released in #cinema 🤨)

Brutal film. Utterly brutal. Nothing seems to have changed in a hundred years!

I do love the #PetShopBoys but I felt a lot of the time the music didn’t quite fit 😬

Herinner me nog dat ik het vak montagetechnieken had op de hogeschool en we de opdracht kregen om een film mee brengen, om daar dan de montage van te bespreken.

Mijn leraar: ‘nu breng je wel de moeilijkste film mee om op dat vlak te analyseren… ‘ 😇😇

Waarna hij de hele film doorspoelde, op zoek naar die ene montagefout die er volgens hem inzat.

Het fascineerde me zo dat ik nu elke montagefout zie, soms tot m’n frustratie tijdens het kijken.

I always remember the teacher who condescendingly told us that even if we kids laughed at the jokes in (the then new) Naked Gun 33 1/3 we didn't really get them. The teacher went on to explain that the scene with the stairs and the baby carriage was much funnier if you had seen the original ... in the #Untouchables.

I did not "Umh, actually #BattleshipPotemkin" since I had by then figured out the my teachers did not like corrections like that, at all.
