A good piece (but written in German) on why #Hopium (#H2) will not be a solution for automotive use. All hopes of the past and present have been crushed. So why do some still insist on subsidising it? Political reasons of the far right kind, I suppose. Because it must be so much fun arguing against physics, because it fits so much better into a simplistic political narrative.

So, please, let's park the ludicrous idea of powering vehicles with a hydrogen fuel cell, and invest money more wisely into battery-electric vehicles.

The 424 now limits electric regen power at the start of the lap, since the battery begins fully charged and cannot accept additional energy until about 2 km into the run.

This is the latest iteration of the PERRINN 424. Major evolutions include driver placement, weight distribution, powertrain, and battery pack. The team is currently optimizing battery power and temperature specifically to target the Nordschleife lap record. This involves testing real battery cells and refining regeneration and thermal management strategies in the simulator.

The #Volkswagen group sold almost as many #BatteryElectric vehicles in just July in Germany as #Tesla in the first 7 months of the year combined.

In July 2024, Tesla had sold 1,926 Model Y in Germany, where they build their cars for Europe.

This July, several months after updating their most important model, they sold only 637, down to one third.

Counting all their models, their sales dropped by 55% year on year. This is not going to end well for Elon.

This is how we use data from the PERRINN simulator, powered by Vehicle Physics Pro, to stress-test a battery cell under the same conditions it would face in the real car. Top-level engineering at its finest.

All metrics are within spec, confirming that we can assemble the car using this cell.
